Spend two weeks exploring these fascinating islands and enjoy private tours with the expert guidance of a local photographer.
In this two-week itinerary you have four days with a local professional photographer as well as ample time to explore these amazing islands under your own steam. Your holiday is customisable, so you choose the specific scenes that you would like to capture and the photographer can work this into your guided days, also making suggestions for alternative locations if that means capitalising on the best weather window for each location.
Alongside your photography tour, you also get to enjoy some of the best day trips that this 18-island archipelago has to offer.

As with all our itineraries, they are just a suggestion to give you an idea of the sort of holiday you could have. The itinerary below is based on flights from Gatwick on Tuesdays but you can fly direct from Gatwick on Saturdays during the summer, or direct from Edinburgh on Mondays or Thursdays throughout the year. It is also possible to get to the Faroe Islands via Copenhagen most days of the week, year round.

One of the iconic highlights included in this holiday is a day trip to the Vestmanna sea cliffs by boat. You will weave in and out of hidden grottos carved into the rock face and will have ample opportunity to enjoy watching the seabirds that nest on the sheer basalt walls, towering rock formations, and deep caves sculpted by the sea.

Once a week through the summer you can make the most of a helicopter round trip to visit Stóra Dímun and spend a enjoyable few hours being shown around by the family that has farmed this island for eight generations. On the 20-minute flight you get stunning view of the coastlines of Vágar and Sandoy (depending on what side you are, you’ll get the views going out or coming back). You land at the pad next to the farm on Stóra Dímun and will be greeted by the farmers, who will show you around their small-holding and will put on a delicious spread of their home-made produce, made from their own livestock and the vegetables that they grow to sustain themselves in this remote location.

We’ve made sure to include ample free time in this itinerary so that you can explore the network of walking trails that link the many villages on the coast around the islands. We can offer route suggestions and talk you through the best maps and trackable apps available, which we can provide you with. Alternatively, you can ask us to include some guided walking days within your holiday, which gives you the added advantage of learning about island life and flora and fauna, from the perspective of your resident guide.

Today you'll have your second day with a local photographer-guide.
Free day to explore Tórshavn. Perhaps you could visit the National Museum and/or National Gallery

Free day. As most things are weather dependant in the Faroe Islands, a free day to do something the weather prevented earlier in the holiday is always prudent.
Drive back to the airport for your last night in the Faroe Islands before an early flight back to the UK. Being near the airport means you're well positioned to (re)visit the Lake Above the Ocean or Múlafossur waterfall.
Early morning flight back to the UK
Despite their northerly location, the Faroes enjoy surprisingly mild temperatures thanks to the tail end of the Gulf Stream which tempers the chill. Strong winds and frequent rainfall are part of daily life, which summer highs usually around 15°C. If you want to escape the heat of summer, then the Faroe Islands is a great option!
Arrive expecting a mix of cloud and rain along with days of sunshine and endless views. Most visitors choose to come between May and August, the driest and warmest months, with July and August being peak season. In summer, the islands’ northern latitude means long days and near-twilight nights, when mountain silhouettes linger against the sky. Between May and August you can expect 16 to 20 hours of daylight.
