Spend time in Cuba’s capital city Havana, with the chance to cruise the streets in a chauffeur driven old American car. Visit a real working cigar factory and immerse yourself in historic Old Havana. Head to the peace and quiet of Vinales Valley and be guided gently through the spectacular scenery of this UNESCO preserved region.
Heading into central Cuba the holiday then focuses on the famous small colonial cities, with visits to Che Guevara’s mausoleum at the revolutionary city of Santa Clara. Also historic Trinidad, close the Caribbean sea and guarded by the Escambray mountains, regarded by many as a living museum.
Heading East, the landscape is agricultural, dotted with colonial towns, until you reach the imposing Sierra Maestra mountains and it all becomes more wild and truly absorbing. This region of Cuba is much less visited and here at Archipelago Choice we love it !
Visit the Sierra Maestra, meet the local mountain folk and seek out La Plata, Fidel Castros secret camp that the authorities never found. Advance on Santiago De Cuba, with its music vibe, Caribbean soul, rich Revolutionary history and visit Fidel Castro’s simple mausoleum., amongst many sights.
Enjoy a short breather on an idyllic and beautiful beach and we recommend a sunrise or sunset stroll along the beach as its magical.
Return west, back via Camaguey and onto Sancti Spiritus a colonial city which uniquely has a river running through it and then onto Cienfuegos overlooking the Caribbean Sea. During these last few days you can also swim in the natural pools below waterfalls in the mountains and get up close to a “Flamboyance of Flamingos” !
Your holiday finishes with extra time to enjoy Havana. For your last night in Cuba perhaps go glam with your best linens for the famous Tropicana cabaret, or dress down for a hot passionate night with the big band sounds of the Legends of Cuban music .
