A holiday introducing Cuba's main highlights, visiting the iconic capital Havana, the tobacco regions of Vinales Valley and delightful small colonial cities. All before relaxing on the Caribbean's most beautiful beaches
Cuba is a truly fascinating Caribbean destination with a Latin vibe, a rich colonial and revolutionary history, amazing sights , Classic American cars, surprisingly good foodie scene and the whole island seems to sway to the rhythm of Latin music and dance.
The island is just waiting to be explored and enjoy mojito fuelled fun Salsa lessons, touring the streets in an open top Chevvy, dancing into the early hours to live music in friendly salsa bars and feasting on fresh lobster in a rooftop restaurant
In short, even if the beach is calling and they are some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, our highlights of Cuba tour will bank long lasting memories, before your much anticipated relaxing days with endless Caribbean sunshine.
A warm Caribbean welcome awaits as you arrive and meet our local driver.
It’s time to experience Cuba’s very quiet “autopista” motorway on the hour’s drive to the picturesque Las Terrazas National Reserve where you’ll spend your first night.
Las Terrazas, is the most important Biosphere Reserve in the Americas and where Fidel Castro established a huge reforestation programme with over 6 million trees being planted.
A specialist local guide can show you the small community that live overlooking the lake and the old coffee plantations that lie in the sub-tropical forests. The area was used extensively by Che Guevara and his revolutionaries for training, so the locals say.
After a traditional lunch in a farmhouse restaurant continue to the UNESCO world heritage Vinales Valley, with time to explore quiet country lanes on bikes or on horseback, sheltering under the gaze of the Mogotes.
Today enjoy the very best of this beautiful UNESCO world heritage region, with its stunning and unique landscapes.
Visit the tobacco plantations and meet the farmers who have worked the land for generations, with almost no technological advances. Peek inside the drying houses and discover more about the global interest in Cuban cigars.
Take a stroll through the valley and a boat ride through the limestone cave system, with lunch served in a local organic farm restaurant serving a tasting menu of various local dishes.
We suggest a wander through the delightful small town of Vinales as the sun cools in the afternoon.
There is just so much to enjoy in Vinales, including various walks to suit all fitness levels, horse riding, cycling trails through the empty country lanes, or how about learning to dance Salsa al fresco!
Enjoy Vinales at a more leisurely pace exploring the small markets in the town or visit the Roots project where fallen branches have been lovingly recreated into beautiful local sculptures, Cuban creativity at its best.
The choir of cockerels will bid you goodbye as you transfer to the bright lights of Havana.
First stop naturally is to a working cigar factory to experience how Cuba’s world-famous cigars are still hand rolled by dedicated rollers, in factories that continue to defy technological advances. See how the skilled workers (known as Torcedores) are kept up to date with news and popular novels by lectors who read to them as they roll cigars which can attract prices of up to £500 a cigar globally!
Heading into historic Old Havana, enjoy lunch at one of our favourite restaurants, followed by an afternoon walking tour through this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After breakfast a gleaming Classic American vintage car, will be waiting for a chauffeur driven tour through the city.
Visit the impressive Revolution Square overlooked by the mural of ‘Che’ Guevara, pass the elegant and sumptuous mansions in Miramar. Experience the hustle and bustle of downtown Vedado before ending the tour with a thrilling drive along the Malecon oceanfront promenade.
Head out tonight for authentic, big band style music or for jazz lovers the famous La Zorra y El Cuervo opens late with the very best Jazz.
Continue east today into the mangrove swamplands of the Zapata National Park, Cuba’s largest biosphere reserve and the home to ………..crocodiles!
Enjoy a cooling swim in the Caribbean at the Bay of Pigs, the location of the failed CIA backed invasion of Cuba that was repelled by Fidel and his revolutionaries.
Briefly stop at Cienfuegos a small, French influenced colonial city overlooking a large bay, before heading along the coastal road to Trinidad .
Explore Trinidad today with an emphasis on discovering its rich colonial history. A small city that prospered from sugar, and the slave trade, where local museums provide an interesting snapshot of the city’s past.
In the late afternoon head to the beach, you could stay for the sunset and enjoy a beachside dinner. For the night owls head to the Casa Del La Musica for some authentic live music and dance.
Enjoy some family time on the beach for a few more days as there is a small choice of resort style beach hotels not far from the centre of Trinidad.
Alternatively head to Varadero, and enjoy the 12 miles of gorgeous beaches, stopping en route to explore revolutionary Santa Clara and visit the mausoleum of Che Guevara.
Enjoy the facilities and all-inclusive services of your resort hotel, the amazing white sand beaches and choose from a range of local excursions, including catamaran cruises, snorkelling, sailing and more
