Hacienda La Casona : Trinidad
The beautiful Hacienda La Casona is an upmarket ranch, located approximately ten-minutes’ walk from the centre of Trinidad. The entrance is marked by an intriguing very large front gate which opens up to a unique privately owned hotel, stables , organic allotments and over 2 hectares of farming land all with stunning views across to the Escambray Mountains.
This very special ranch has a contemporary rustic feel with the cacti, terracotta pots, stables and cowboys you could be forgiven for thinking you were not in Cuba, however this is a typical ” Guajiros” ranch albeit upmarket.
Hacienda La Casona has a choice of rooms, each different from the next and with unique features carved into the stone enhancing the very natural feel. The rooms are spacious and decorated in accordance with the age of the ranch, although there are the modern touches, such as private bathrooms, air conditioning, wifi and a mini bar.
There are 8 rooms in total with1 basic single room and the 5 standard rooms also offer a small living area or terrace. The Junior Suite is located upstairs on the ranch and is very large with a terrace overlooking the mountains. The impressive Master Suite is complete with a huge majestic bathroom and living room where a private breakfast can be served for you each morning.
La Casona is a working ranch and in addition to the stables where horse riding trips are also possible, there are mango groves and other tropical fruit and vegetables are organically grown here and there is plenty of outdoor space for the guests to enjoy.
Along with fresh local breakfasts, dinners can be served on request at an outside BBQ-grill and café area where you can sample the home-grown produce from the vegetable patch alongside traditional Cuban cuisine involving chicken, pork and even lobster on occasions.
