Stretching south from Laguna Ojo de Liebre to Cabo San Lucas you'll find deserts and oceans teaming with wildlife
Often referred to as Baja Sur, a southern sparsely populated region of Baja stretching south from Guerrero Negro to Cabo San Lucas, with the Sea of Cortez to the east and Pacific Ocean to the west. A distance of over 600miles. Baja Sur is a semi-arid mountainous region with a scattering of old colonial towns, Spanish Missions and is home to an eclectic mix of locals, artists and retirees.
Without doubt one of the main draws of the region is the unique marine and birdlife, which are drawn to the area by the nutrient rich waters of the Sea of Cortez and Pacific. Travelling between January and April is the optimal time for observing whales where you can see grey whales congregating in the lagoons along the peninsulas Pacific coast and blue and fin whales is the sea of Cortez.
