Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa, for Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna
It’s worth booking into the Kioro Suites for the incredible view of Arenal Volcano alone! The hotel itself is delightful, the staff are friendly, and there are some great walks in the grounds. You can eat in the hotel restaurant or walk to one of the local restaurants, such as nearby A Lo Tico. A highlight of your stay will be the natural hot springs, onsite and exclusive to hotel guests. And there is plenty of wildlife within the hotels wooded grounds.

Monteverde Lodge, for Monteverde’s cloud forest
Monteverde Lodge is well located for visiting all of the nearby attractions, such as the cloud forests of Monteverde National Park, from where you can spot wildlife from hanging bridges, and whizz through the trees on a thrilling zip-line ride. It’s just a short walk into town and there are lots of walks straight from the hotel, which is surrounded by lush green forest.

Tamarindo Diria, at the northern tip of Nicoya Peninsula
One step from the palm-fringed gardens of Tamarindo Diria is the beautiful Tamarindo Beach. Once known as a surfers paradise, it’s become increasing popular and there are lots of activities to enjoy. The forests are enlivened by the sounds of howler monkeys, and nearby Playa Grande and Playa Langosta are key nesting sites for leatherback turtles, if you’re visiting between March and October. The Nicoya Peninsula itself has several national parks and marine reserves, and there are many activities you can enjoy, from nature walks to snorkelling, and horse-rides along the beach.

Arenas del Mar, Manuel Antonio
Overlooking the pacific ocean and golden sands of Manuel Antonio , the Arenas del Mar is within walking distance of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Within the park, you can spot sloths, monkeys, and toucans in the trees on a guided nature walk. From the beach you can enjoy a variety of water-based sports, such as kayaking, snorkelling, catamaran tours, and even parasailing! The hotel gardens are beautiful and overlook the ocean, and there are even sloths living in the grounds!

Copa de Arbol, for access to the Corcovado National Park
The Copa de Arbol sits in a secluded cove in Drake Bay, on the Osu Peninsula. Its a fantastic place and is accessible only by boat. You need to pre-arrange any planned excursions, so the hotel staff can arrange a boat for you. Nearby highlights include snorkelling and swimming with turtles from Cano Island, humpback whale watching (July to October and December to April), and many wonderful forest treks and wildlife tours through the Corcovado National Park, known as one of the most biodiverse places on earth.
