Xandari Resort & Spa
Located in Alajuela and close to San Jose’s airport is Xandari Resort & Spa. High up on a hill and set in an old coffee plantation, the resort has beautiful lush landscaped tropical gardens and overlooks the Central Valley.
The twenty-four spacious and colourful villas all have a panoramic view of the valley from their private balconies. The interior design is unique, all are decorated in tropical colours with specially designed artworks and textiles. A nice detail is the high rolling wooden ceiling in each room, planned out so the air circulates around the room freely and no A/C is required. It has spacious showers with a garden view, and a small kitchenette with a mini-fridge. There aren’t televisions here.
The hotel supports a ‘Farm to Table’ philosophy and grows most of its vegetables and herbs on the property. The terrace restaurant has commanding views of the valley below and offers a variety of choices from Costa Rican to international dishes.
The three hotel swimming pools are all saline-treated. You are free to explore the three miles of trails through the property’s private trails to several waterfalls, and spot a wide variety of bird species within the grounds.
