Gaze at the Milky Way whilst staying in a volcanic crater on Fogo
Staying in the volcanic crater on Fogo is an amazing experience and at night, due to the lack of any light pollution, the skies come alive and you feel like you can reach out and touch the Milky Way!
The last major eruption on Fogo occurred in 2014 and the villages in the crater were all but destroyed. Since then a lot of work has gone into slowly rebuilding the community, but the lava flows have left their mark as the BBC’s Ade Adepitan found out during his recent visit:
