Costa Rica is a hot topic at the moment and I think Most of us know something about this fascinating country.
Top fact – Costa Rica doesn’t have an army!
It’s hard not to have heard of Costa Rica, the two Attenborough brothers know exactly where it is – David has visited the country numerous times to film his BBC Wildlife programmes and how can we forget his brother, the actor Richard whose character introduced us to the fictitious wildlife park of genetically created dinosaurs in Jurassic Park (except it was filmed in Hawaii!).
So where Costa Rica? This small Central American country (about the size if Switzerland) is located between Mexico and South America, above the equator with Nicaragua to the North and Panama to the southeast. It has the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea (Atlantic) to the east and therefore blessed with beautiful beaches on two sides.
Costa Rica has two seasons – the dry season from December to April are the best months to visit, whilst the rainy (also called green season) is from May until November with sunny days and the occasional afternoon showers.
From the UK you can fly direct to the capital of San Jose or Liberia in the northwest with British Airways and TUI or indirect to San Jose with KLM, Iberia, and some American airlines like Delta, American Airlines and US Airways. Do bear in mind though that if you fly via the USA, you will need to apply for an electronic visa.
