See the Puffins of Mykines
Mykines, the westernmost island of the Faroes, is a paradise for bird lovers and home to vast colonies of northern fulmars, European storm petrels, and the star of the show — 125,000 pairs of Atlantic puffins. A day trip to this remote island offers the rare chance to see these charming seabirds up close in their natural habitat.
We’ll arrange everything for you, from hotel transfers to the harbour in Sørvágur for a scenic 45-minute boat ride across the Atlantic. Upon arrival, your local guide will welcome you to the tiny village of Mykines, where just 13 people live year-round. From there, you’ll explore dramatic cliff paths teeming with seabirds and enjoy unforgettable encounters with puffins against the backdrop of the island’s breathtaking landscapes.

Best time to go
Despite their northerly location, the Faroes enjoy surprisingly mild temperatures thanks to the tail end of the Gulf Stream which tempers the chill. Strong winds and frequent rainfall are part of daily life, which summer highs usually around 15°C. If you want to escape the heat of summer, then the Faroe Islands is a great option!
Arrive expecting a mix of cloud and rain along with days of sunshine and endless views. Most visitors choose to come between May and August, the driest and warmest months, with July and August being peak season. In summer, the islands’ northern latitude means long days and near-twilight nights, when mountain silhouettes linger against the sky. Between May and August you can expect 16 to 20 hours of daylight.
