Hotel Føroyar
Hotel Føroyar is perhaps the luxury hotel in the Faroe Islands. With commanding views over Tórshavn and out to the neighbouring island of Nólsoy, yet only a short walk from the centre of town, it’s perfectly situated for a relaxing stay in the capital.
It was designed by the award-winning Danish architects Friis & Moltke, who have paired brutalist-style exposed concrete with chic minimalist interiors. A two-year expansion project was completed in 2020 increasing the number of rooms from 160 to 200. But despite its grand size, the serpentine-like shape and turfed roof of the building enables it to blend perfectly with the surroundings. And it feels much cosier and more lavish on the inside than the exterior might suggest.
The hotel has a beautiful spa house within the grounds, called Ress. Guests can relax in the warm pools, soak in the heat of various steam rooms and saunas, and simply embrace the stillness. Spa packages can be booked when arranging your stay, or simply book your favoured treatments and spa experiences when you arrive.
Hotel Føroyar has two options on site for food: the 1933 Café & bar and the Ruts Restaurant. You can enjoy seasonal dishes, such as fermented meat and dried mutton, whilst admiring the views from the window. For groups of 5 or more, the hotel offers wine-tasting experiences in their extensive wine cellar.
