The best time to visit Portugal is during summer and spring. This is when temperatures are the most pleasant and you are likely to enjoy plenty of blue-sky days. In spring time it’s incredibly pretty; the flowers are in bloom and the landscape is awash with green following the winter rains. Autumn is also a really great time to visit because this is when those fine grapes are harvested and the regional wines are being produced.

In our experience, it’s best to avoid visiting Portugal in July and August because it can be uncomfortably hot and the risk of wildfires is high.
If you are looking for visit Portugal during the winter months then we would recommend heading to the more southerly parts, such as the Algarve region.
