The Castelo do Sao Jorge, medieval Alfama, the grand Praca do Comercio and the Tejo riverfront are all within easy walking distance, and it’s a thirty-minute ride on the number 15 tram to historic Belem.
Outside, the Hotel Figueira’s azulejo-clad facade instantly catches the eye with its mesmerising geometric shades of blue and grey. The colour scheme draws you inside to ‘La Squadra’: the high-ceilinged ground floor of the hotel – this versatile space acts as a breakfast room and café during the day, and a highly rated open-plan Italian restaurant in the evenings.
The eighty guest rooms are on the three floors above, and they’re comfortable with an understated sophistication.
