Sustainability underpins the estate’s approach to agriculture, producing high quality grapes using natural fertilisers and integrated planting over herbicides. The winery is also an active member of the Porto Protocol: an initiative aimed at developing and implementing workable climate solutions within the wine industry. The CO2 produced during fermentation process is reused to ‘blanket’ the wine and naturally prevent oxidation, and the photovoltaic panels which now sit side-by-side with the vines produce 50% of the quinta’s electricity needs.
