Casa Amarela
You can’t fail to miss Casa Amarela as its bold, yellow façade dominates Castelo da Vide’s grand Praca Dom Pedro V Square. The building itself is a protected national monument, thanks to its quintessentially 18th century décor and period antique furnishing. Dark, ornate woodwork and imposing granite archways take you from the main entrance, through to the breakfast room, guest lounge and a small library. Double and twin ensuite rooms are located upstairs, together with a more spacious junior suite.
The Guimaraes family have been the custodians of the casa for four generations and the service they provide is friendly and thoughtful. Location-wise, the casa shares the Praca Dom Pedro V Square with the baroque Igreja Matriz Santa Maria da Devesa church and Castelo da Vide’s rather stately Camara Municipal, and old medieval quarter is a short walk away.
