Onguma Trails Camp – For specialist walking safaris
Onguma Trails Camp sits within the 35,000-hectare Onguma Nature Reserve and is just one of several camps located within the reserve. What makes Trails Camp particularly special is that it is an experience rather than simply a place to stay. This is the only place in Namibia offering multi-night hiking packages in a true big game environment. This specialist walking-safari camp immerses you in the wilderness, where you can enjoy sundowners, sitting around the campfire, outdoor dining under the stars, and comfortable safari tents complete with private outdoor hot tubs. Guests can choose either a 2-night/3-day or 3-night/4-day itinerary, with daily guided walks typically covering 6 to 8 kilometres. The entire focus of the camp is the walking safaris, so be prepared to get active and enjoy a more intimate, up-close encounter with Onguma’s wildlife.
Andersson’s at Ongava – For Etosha and the Ongava Game Reserve
Etosha is such a key park for any safari holiday in Namibia, so we wanted to offer a second option. Andersson’s is one of four properties within the Ongava Game Reserve, the other three being: Horizon by Ongava (previously Little Ongava), Ongava Lodge, and Ongava Tented Camp. We especially like this lodge because it’s known for its conservation efforts and is perfect for those who want to get a deeper understanding of Namibia’s wildlife than your standard safari. There’s a big focus on learning and education here and they have their own research centre. is notable for its extraordinary eye-level hide, offering guests 24-hour access and some of the most intimate wildlife viewing in the country. It’s also a good base for those looking to head into Etosha National Park.
Okonjima Bush Camp – For Leopard Tracking
Big cats, such as lion, cheetah, and leopard, can be found in several parks throughout Namibia, but the leopard can be notoriously elusive. That’s why we always recommend Okonjima Nature Reserve, where you can head out leopard tracking with a ranger. Okonjima has a range of accommodation options but the luxury bush camp is a real treat and immerses you in your natural surroundings.

Camp Kipwe – For the Elephants and rhinos of Damaraland
Camp Kipwe is built amongst giant granite boulders and feels wonderfully integrated into the landscape. The stone-and-thatch bungalows resemble small rock dwellings, blending almost seamlessly into the surrounding hills. Guests often choose Kipwe for its intimate atmosphere and distinctive design. While it is not considered as premium as Mowani Mountain Camp, those who prefer character and authenticity over luxury will find that Kipwe captures the spirit of Damaraland perfectly and offers excellent value for money. From your camp, you can enjoy the elephants and rhinos of the Damaraland Region, visit the Damara Living Museum, see the Twelfelfontein rock engravings and simply enjoy the beauty of the surrounding granite hills. If you want to elevate your experience, book a stay in their luxury suite.
Mowani Mountain Camp – for the elephants of Damaraland
Similarly to camp Kipwe, this lodge is within Damaraland and puts you close to Twelfelfontein and the Aba Huab Valley. This is the spot if you’re seeking a little luxury. The thatched huts all have lavish interiors and are dotted amongst rounded granite boulders. The surroundings are incredibly picturesque. You can enjoy game drives to see elephants and black rhino, ancient rock art, and the Damara Living Museum, where you can learn all about the San people (bushmen). The larger tented suites offer some of the best views in the region. This premium tented camp is particularly popular with honeymooners, and guests seeking a slightly higher-end experience.

Elegant Desert Eco Camp – For the giant dunes of Sossusvlei
At the Elegant Desert Eco Camp, you are far out in the Namib Desert, with nothing but the flat desert floor and the distant mountains as far as the eye can see. This tented camp is more rustic than some of the luxury lodges, but would still be considered ‘glamping’, with comfortable beds, showers, and an incredible mountain-top pool. Enjoy the desert calm and visit the nearby giant dunes of Sossusvlei, the scorched trees in the Deadvlei clay pan, and Sisriem Canyon.

Ai-Aiba Rock Painting Lodge – rock paintings in Erongo Mountains
Ai-Aiba rock painting lodge sits on the edge of the Erongo Mountains and it’s an absolutely wonderful location. The small collection of spacious huts are nestled between two granite bounder peaks. The comfortable rooms and lounge area offer fantastic mountain views, you really are in the heart of Namibia. From your lodge, you can enjoy guided walks and mountain bike adventures, and guided drives to see the ancient rock paintings, created by the San people who used iron oxides and animal blood to create scenes of hunting, and animal drawings.
