It’s twelve cosy en-suite rooms have wonderful views across the valley, to the imposing Espigao escarpment which dominates the landscape of Sao Vicente. The older main building retains much of the character of the original farmhouse, with it’s exposed, hand-cut cedar roof beams and antique furniture, whilst the more-modern extension houses the indoor heated swimming pool and a sauna, the open plan breakfast room, and a cosy guest lounge with an honesty bar.
Luciana and her team at Solar da Bica are proud of their home-grown produce and are always happy to give you a guided tour of the organic vegetable and fruit garden, where aubergines, beans and strawberries grow amongst fragrant lavender hedges.
Sao Vicente’s a fairly-remote location and we’ll normally recommend including a hire car during your stay – to give you the freedom to explore the wonderful coastal-landscapes of North-west Madeira.
