This delightful ocean-view home is ideal for families and groups of friends, with its spacious gardens, outdoor swimming pool and expansive sea views.
A shaded terrace across the front of the quinta is ideal for al-fresco dining, and relaxing evenings with a glass of local Madeiran wine. Indoors, a homely lounge leads to a well-equipped kitchen with direct access to the dining terrace. There are three bedrooms on the first floor – two double rooms (one of which is ensuite), a twin room and a shared family bathroom. The twin room is split level, with a single bed on each level connected by a staircase, and the upper level has a view over the garden.
Quinta Girassol’s outdoor pool occupies the south facing sea view terrace, surrounded by it’s beautiful gardens. Unique among our self-catering quintas on the island, Girassol’s garden also has its own working levada – Madeira’s famous man-made water channels, which transport rainwater from inland sources high in the mountains and distributed it across the coastal towns and villages.
We’ll usually recommend including a hire car during your stay, and the south coast village of Ponta do Sol is a five-minute drive away – home to some of our favourite restaurants and café bars. To the east, it’s a twenty-minute drive along the coast to the capital Funchal, and the high peaks and seacliffs of the north coast are a short drive away.
