Hotel Quinta do Furao
The east of the island effortlessly combines high mountain peaks, precipitous river gorges and craggy coastlines into one awe-inspiring landscape, and Quinta do Furao is the gateway to exploring this magnificent region of Madeira.
There are forty-three comfortable en-suite rooms in total, and as a former wine producing quinta, the hotel is surrounded by five tranquil hectares of organic vines, fruit trees, home-grown vegetables and herbs. The on-site Restaurante Furao makes excellent use of this produce and the menu is one of the most interesting on the island – Terrina de Rabo de Boi, Bochecha de Vaca estufada and Bife Legumes Caldeirão Verde: delicious, contemporary takes on classic Madeiran dishes. There’s also an outstanding cellar where you can sample the best wines from across Madeira and Porto Santo.
