Hotel Quinta da Penha de Franca
The original manor house is known as Quinta Penha de Franca and has a cosy, traditional-Portuguese feel surrounded by beautiful gardens – of the seventy-six rooms, our favourites are the balcony rooms overlooking the gardens. The more-modern half of the hotel is Penha de Franca Mar, with thirty-three sea view rooms overlooking the outdoor pool.
There are two excellent restaurants on site, one for each wing of the hotel, and many of central Funchal’s best café bars and local restaurants are just a short stroll away along seafront Avenida Sa Carneiro.
