A family holiday to Cuba combining lots of fun, unique experiences, lasting memories and plenty of Caribbean sunshine!
Whether your E biking around Havana, swimming in mountain pools, snorkelling over coral reefs, exploring colonial cities in gleaming Classic American cars or feasting on fresh lobster, this Caribbean Island with a Latin vibe hits the spot for a memorable family adventure.
All our holidays are individually tailored to focus on your specific interests as naturally all families are unique. We have decades of experience in creating family holidays in Cuba and have travelled across the island with our own children from preschoolers up to erratic teenagers!
We all recognise that travelling to destinations so different to ours is such an education for children and Cuba provides so many subtle educational opportunities.
A colonial history still so visible, stunning landscapes, music and dance, a vibrant art and design scene, a fledgling and growing private economy, sustainable energy projects all held up with a lasting socialist ideology, Cuba promises to be a memorable experience for your children!
The Caribbean warmth of Cuba welcomes you as you land in Havana and a private transfer will take you to your chosen accommodation.
There may even be time for a short stroll through the historic Old City tonight before bed.
The body clock dictates that even teenagers will awake early on these first few mornings in Cuba ! So start the day early on stylish “urban “ E Bikes for a unique guided cycling tour through Havana.
Cycle through the elegant Miramar district passing many embassies and mansion houses, before reaching the bustle of downtown Vedado district. Enjoy the fascinating street life and cycle through the impressive Revolution Square.
Weave through the narrow historic streets of Old Havana and free wheel down the Prado promenade, a favourite with street artists and skateboarders alike. Finish by riding along the majestic Malecon coastal promenade, known as “Havana Sofa,” as the locals use the sea wall for their socialising.
After the tour enjoy a traditional lunch with authentic Cuban cuisine and enjoy the afternoon exploring the historic old quarter independently.
Life in Cuba is so different to home and this morning one of our local guides will walk you through the streets of Old Havana, that not only visits the main sights and beautiful historic squares, but also focuses on life in Havana.
How do families live? Where do they shop, go to school, play, take part in sport and other activities, and what is life really like. A fascinating and thought-provoking tour through one of the most amazing old cities in the world.
After time to relax, a gleaming Classic American car will pick you up for a sunset panoramic tour of Havana, a great way to cruise around the city as the lights come on.
The UNESCO World Heritage region of Vinales Valley certainly boasts one of the world’s most stunning natural landscapes. The valley is framed by strange “mogotes," steep sided limestone cliffs that rise from the fertile farmland, home to world famous tobacco plantations.
Meet one of our Vinales guides, for a tour of the valley and saddle up for a short family horse ride, followed by a boat ride through the limestone caves.
We can arrange lunch at Finca Paraiso where the farm serves a fantastic platter of local dishes with all the ingredients locally sourced.
The light in Vinales in the late afternoon is spectacular, a perfect time for a leisurely family cycle tour to finish the day. Cycling on quiet country lanes, passing the tobacco and tropical fruit plantations, sheltering under the gaze of the Mogotes, its’s a memorable way to finish a Vinales day.
The beach beckons and the island of Cayo Jutias is one of the best in Cuba.
It’s a little bumpy on the country road to the island and on arrival the day is yours to enjoy the most beautiful island key. Stroll along the beach and take a boat ride to the remote and gorgeous Cayo Megano, a unique spot to see the many starfish who seem to congregate here, the reason why remains a mystery.
A packed lunch and drinks will be provided, or we can add you to the list for barbecued lobster on the beach !
Leaving Vinales, you reach the Bay of Pigs in the late morning, ready for some revolutionary history and the first swim in the Caribbean Sea.
A sleepy backwater, this area certainly moves at a very slow pace and enjoy a glimpse of life here, with lunch served overlooking the sea.
After a visit to a local cenote teeming with tropical fish, continue to the small coastal colonial city of Cienfuegos, just as the sun sets over the bay.
Start the day early for a family kayak tour to get up close to a flamboyance of beautiful pink Flamingos. Only in Cuba, does one paddle past a rusting hulk of a Russian submarine, hidden in the mangroves!
Cooler mountain air beckons in the Escambray mountains, where the El Nicho waterfalls are hidden among the mountains, bring costumes for a cooling swim in one of the natural pools, followed by a hearty rustic lunch.
Continue to Trinidad a real favourite and an UNESCO World Heritage city, lying close to the mountains and Caribbean Sea. After dinner tonight we suggest traditional local live music in the main square.
Children love a country walk (although teenagers might need some coaxing) and some of our favourite trails in Cuba can be found in the nearby Escambray mountains.
Start the day at the Casa Del Café high in the mountains for an original Cuban coffee, before embarking on one of our walks ranging from shorter 3-mile walks up to longer treks of 10 – 12 miles. All are fully guided passing through sub-tropical forests, coffee and tropical fruit plantations. Bring your swimming costumes for a dip in the picturesque natural pools, followed by lunch in a small farmhouse restaurant.
After returning to Trinidad, enjoy beach time at nearby Playa Ancon. The sunsets here are beautiful and the sea is warm, a lovely spot to spend a few hours. A shack style beach restaurant offers a range of dishes, including fresh seafood.
Enjoy some family time on the beach for a few more days with a small choice of resort style beach hotels not far from the centre of Trinidad.
Alternatively, head to Havana on our private transfer stopping en route at Sugar Mill valley and its ghostly watch tower, a reminder of Cuba’s links to the slave trade. Continue to Santa Clara, a city of major historical significance and visit Che Guevara's Mausoleum and the museum dedicated to his life.
After lunch in Santa Clara, it’s a steady drive along Cuba’s empty motorway to Havana or alternatively the beaches of Varadero, where you can extend your holiday at one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.
If you are heading home without staying on at the beach stay today, one of our drivers will meet you for the transfer back to the airport and your overnight flight home.
