Sevilla Hotel by Melia
The Sevilla Hotel by Melia enjoys a superb location in Old Havana, adjacent to the famous Prado Street, close to the Malecon sea front promenade, and within walking distance of Old Havana’s main tourist sights.
The Sevilla is now part of the international Melia collection of hotels and has enjoyed a freshen up with the rooms now modernised, whilst keeping those unique colonial touches.
The hotel has a rich history and has been a popular meeting place for Cuban high society from the time of its inauguration in 1908. In the 1930s, the notorious mobster Santo Trafficante had shares in the hotel and Al Capone and his mob lived on the 6th Floor of the hotel whilst looking after their business interests in Havana. There are also strong rumours that there lies a secret tunnel linking the former Presidential Palace with the hotel.
The Sevilla benefits from a large outdoor swimming pool, quite a rarity in Old Havana. Other attractive features include the palatial rooftop restaurant, an elegant dining room, with amazing views of the city and where regular evening cultural performances take place.
This iconic colonial hotel has bundles of Old Havana charm and is perfectly placed to explore the old city.
