Hanging Bridges in Costa Rica
There are several places in Costa Rica where you can go on a treetop canopy walk, and the two places that we highly recommend are in the rainforest of Arenal and the cloud forest of Monteverde. These are unique walks as you’ve never experienced before, where you cross amazing hanging brides and observe the flora and fauna from above. Discover the different eco systems of these amazing forest canopies, either accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist guide or on your own.
Costa Ricans are rightly proud of their famous hanging bridges an the National Parks and private reserves have extensive networks of bridges. Views from this height allow you to explore some of the most important habitats for Costa Rica’s wildlife.
And you can walk with confidence, because Costa Rica is the leader in the structural know-how to make these bridges both impressive and safe. The first construction for viewing at canopy level was born of necessity, when scientists required an easy way to access this important part of the ecosystem, without having to ascend in a harness.
Over time, the construction has evolved to what we see today – huge and safe spans from which anyone can look into the rainforest canopy. You can explore these trails and bridges by yourself but we highly recommend that most people will have a significantly better experience in the company of an experienced local naturalist guide.
