Cape Verde

Where to stay in Cape Verde – hotels and accommodation

Travel Guide by Archipelago Choice

This stunning archipelago has many things going for it and one of them is definitely the charming and unique hotels available on the islands.

Finding out where to stay in Cape Verde isn’t a problem for us and the combination of accommodation we choose for your trip is part of the key to an unforgettable holiday.

Most of the accommodations available are on B&B basis, which gives you the opportunity to explore the islands and experiment with the local cuisine in well-established restaurants in the area. The hotel staff will be happy to point you out in the right direction.

Some of the hotels are more secluded, for those who love nature and want some peace and quiet after a busy day out exploring . In these hotels dinner is also available.

Where to stay in Cape Verde

Cape Verde is formed by 10 volcanic islands and we have listed some of the most popular ones below.

Sal

Sal is the most barren of the inhabited islands on the archipelago. It is also popular amongst travellers and the gateway to the real Cape Verde.

Odjo d’Agua

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location situated just above the waves. Odjo d’agua means ‘eye of water’ in creole. This hotel has by far the best position in Santa Maria, built out into the water and has a lovely secluded, private beach.

Hotel Morabeza

The word ‘Morabeza’ is Portuguese for ‘hospitality’ and this is a hotel lives up to its name. Elegant and with excellent facilities, this establishment has evolved through three generations to become one of Cape Verde’s most desirable hotels.

Boavista

Boavista is a desert island with gorgeous sandy beached. It is the third most important destination in the world for nesting loggerhead turtles.

Orquídea Guesthouse

Whether you like to be close to the beach or near to Sal Rei town, the Orquidea’s location does the trick. The stunning white sands and turquoise sea are only a few steps away in one direction. Just turn the other way for the main town square.

Migrante Guesthouse

A small guesthouse with colonial-era architecture situated in the old quarter of Sal Rei, just to the west of the town square. It’s a few minutes’ walk to the town beach. It uses natural energy and local products wherever possible, as part of its commitment to responsible tourism.

Fogo

Fogo is the most volcanically active of all the islands and is dominated by Fogo do Pico. Fogo consists of a single volcano, which is why the island is almost circle-shaped and about 25 kilometers (16 mi) in diameter.

Residencial Savana

A converted and beautifully restored house with 16 bedrooms and stunning views. At festival times, the terrace in front of the hotel is the unlikely venue for horse-racing, which attracts a lively crowd of spectators. It is a short stroll down to the sea-shore and nearly all of São Filipe’s restaurants, bars and music venues are within a couple of minutes’ walk.

Colonial Guesthouse

São Filipe on Boavista is well-known for its distinctive Portuguese-era architecture, and the handsome Colonial House B&B is one of the finest examples of a sobrado house anywhere in town. The beautiful building dates from 1883 but has recently been painstakingly restored to its former glory, while at the same time offering its guests a high degree of comfort and ‘mod-cons’.
