Whichever of Cape Verde’s islands you choose to visit, we can recommend the best places to stay.
- Hotel Morabeza – Sal
- King Fisher Village – Santiago
- Casa Cavoquinho – Santo Antao
- Casamarel – Sao Vicente
- Orquidea Guesthouse – Boavista
Hotel Morabeza – next to Santa Maria Beach on Sal
The Hotel Morabeza is a complex of hotel buildings, tennis courts, mini golf, gardens, and outdoor swimming pools. And it’s right on the golden sands of Santa Maria Beach. Its a really great place to stay, with a decked area right on the beach and outdoor dining. You can also enjoy lunch at the hotel’s beach club, and the bar is a great place to go in the evening if you fancy a cocktail or two! This area is a real activity hub, particularly for water sports such as sailing, surfing, kite-surfing, and guided catamaran cruises.

King Fisher Village – in Tarrafal bay area, on Santiago
Tucked away at the northern tip of Santiago is a fishing village called Tarrafal. Its the perfect spot for a relaxed holiday because it has a gorgeous bay with golden sands and turquoise waters. The King Fisher Village sits on the cliffs at the tip of the bay. You can borrow snorkels from the hotel and walk down the stone steps that lead down to ocean. The hotel pool and outdoor seating areas overlook the ocean, and it’s a short walk into the town.

Casa Cavoquinho – in the green Paul Valley on Santo Antao
If you plan to go walking in Cape Verde then you should consider walking from Cova do Paul into the Paul Valley. Its one of the most spectacular walks across all of the islands and takes you across a crater flour, up onto the crater rim, then down a path that zig zags into the Paul Valley. Though Cape Verde has a very dry climate, the Paul Valley can be surprisingly green and you will pass farmers working their terraced plots as you walk. Casa Covaquino is always a welcome site and the views from the two terraces are incredible.

The Casamarel – in Mindelo on the island of Sao Vicente
Sao Vicente is considered to be Cape Verde’s most culturally authentic islands, and Mindelo is the beating heart of the island. The Casamarel is in an elevated position, with incredible sweeping views of Mindelo Bay, not to mention the fantastic sunsets! Its a beautifully restored old house with a modern interior and welcoming staff. The restaurant meals are delicious, as are the breakfasts. It’s a ten minute walk into town and you can cool off in the hotel pool on your return.

Orquidea Guesthouse – On a quiet beach near Sal Rei, Boavista
This simple guest house is a lovely place to stay in you like a low-key place to relax and unwind. This small stone building has a lovely little courtyard, filled with green plants and hanging pots. You’ll be served a delish breakfast in the courtyard each morning, with fresh fruits, meats, and cheeses. The guesthouse is right on Estoril Beach, a calm little bay that gets very few visitors. It’s just a ten minute walk to Sal Rei and only 5 minutes to the nearby beach clubs that sell food and drinks. From the beach clubs, you can hire boats and windsurf boards, or head out snorkelling and sailing.
