One of our most exhilarating jeep experiences is probably on São Vicente, where the bumpy ride takes you through the desert. Pass vulcão Viana to the deserted black sandy beach of Praia de Palha Carga. You then continue along empty beaches to the windswept village of Calhau on the east coast. The tour carries on along the tarmac road to the dunes, Salamansa and Baias das Gatas until you reach the top of Monteverde, São Vicente’s highest peak.
If you’re heading to the western part of Santa Antão, then an exciting ride in a pickup truck is the best option to tackle the rocky roads.
