The Don Paco Hotel
Situated just a short walk from Mindelo’s marina and waterfront, the Don Paco Hotel offers simple, affordable accommodation in the heart of the city. While it may not be the most stylish hotel in town and some areas feel a little dated, its excellent location, friendly staff and good-value rooms make it a popular choice for travellers looking for a convenient base.
The hotel has forty-four air-conditioned rooms, all of which are bright and comfortable, with amenities including a TV and minibar. Standard rooms have partial sea views, while the suites offer balconies and views across the bay. The on-site restaurant overlooks Parque Nhô Roque, a small seafront park, providing a pleasant spot to start the day.
Breakfast is included, but we’d recommend staying on a bed-and-breakfast basis rather than opting for half board. Mindelo is home to some of Cape Verde’s best cafés, bars and restaurants, all within easy walking distance of the hotel, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to sample the city’s lively food scene. With the centre just a few minutes away on foot, Don Paco is well placed for exploring everything Mindelo has to offer.
