Porto Antigo Residence
Porto Antigo Residence combines the independence of staying in a well-equipped apartment, with the excellent facilities and services of a high-quality hotel.
The apartments are housed in two separate blocks, each just a couple of minutes’ walk from the main square of Santa Maria.
The apartment complex owes its name to the Old Harbour (Porto Antigo) which is situated just in front of it and gives it a unique and scenic feature. Indeed, the harbour, unused by boats, provides a sheltered place for residents to cool off away from the Cape Verde sunshine. For the adventurous snorkeler, an underwater statue lies about fifty metres away in front of the harbour, and of course the large pool at Porto Antigo offers a relaxing option for taking a dip.
Between the harbour and the Porto Antigo Residence is a small stretch of beach with sun loungers, which can also be found around the pool area. Larger areas of beach are close by, to the east and west.
The apartments are found in two separate buildings (Porto Antigo ‘1’ and ‘2’). They are either on the ground or first floor and have either one, two or three bedrooms. Each has a well-appointed living/dining area, cooking facilities and fridge, and is equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, veranda or balcony and free Wi-Fi. In addition, daily cleaning services are provided. A substantial and varied buffet breakfast (at extra cost) may be taken in the Papaya restaurant which overhangs the harbour. Papaya also has an excellent reputation for its evening meals. Half board and B&B options are available, on request.
At Porto Antigo ‘1’, there is a busy, helpful reception desk and the Italian-run complexes are set in well-maintained and planted gardens, with some vibrant, colourful murals adorning the exterior walls.
