Pensão Jardim
Sited in the town of Ribeira Brava on Sao Nicolau, the popular Pensão Jardim has been our first choice of accommodation here for many years now.
The family establishment is just a few minutes’ walk from the town’s main square and is run by Dona Va, her husband and daughter who speak French fluently and a little English and Dutch. They are very welcoming and efficient and bring some old-world character and quirkiness to their pensão. Those with limited mobility may find Jardim difficult to access, as it is uphill, with an entrance up a steep, narrow alleyway.
The pensão has a total of ten rooms, each of which has a private bathroom with hot water. They are comfortable and simply furnished, air-conditioned and equipped with television. Some rooms have interconnecting doors, making them suitable for families. For guests who prefer the option of self-catering, there are two mini-apartments with kitchenettes.
Breakfast is served in the enclosed top-floor restaurant, where pre-ordered lunch or dinner can also be taken. There is a shady, communal terrace where guests can relax and read or enjoy views down to the sprawl of Ribeira Brava. All of the restaurants of Ribeira Brava are within an easy stroll of Pensão Jardim.
