Oasis Tarrafal Alfandega Suites
The excellent Oasis group expand to Tarrafal on the northern tip of Santiago Island to include the Oasis Tarrafal Alfandega Suites.
Tarrafal is Santiago’s best beach; three bays separated by a harbour and promontory with beach bar, and one of the best places to stay is the Oasis Tarrafal Alfandega Suites. Tarrafal Bay is blessed with safe swimming the vast majority of the year, because its sheltered golden arc is protected from the prevailing north-easterly winds and currents.
The rooms of the Oasis Tarrafal Alfandega Suites all face the sea, and they’re all ensuite. On the ground floor are the Family Rooms, with a terrace facing the town’s golden beach. Upstairs you’ll find the Deluxe Family Rooms, which are identical aside from the terrace. Then the Suites, these are the same as the Family Rooms but set up for couples; some of which can be linked. The Family Rooms and Suites all have kitchenettes, useful for an extended stay but must be requested in advance.
Downstairs the restaurant and breakfast room extends onto the wrap-around terrace, making full use of the enviable location overlooking beaches to both sides. The smaller Mar di Baxu to the west feels more intimate and is 30 seconds from your accommodation. The larger twin-bay Praia do Tarrafal is only a couple more minutes walk away. Or perhaps you could swim round?
