UNESCO Rock Paintings
The oldest rock paintings in the Sierra San Francisco predate the birth of Christ (c. 100 B.C), and there are a number of painted rock ledges in the Sierra San Francisco.
Altogether, they make up the most important prehistoric rock art compound in the entire Americas and were declared a Cultural World Heritage site in 1993. Surprisingly well preserved, they offer fascinating insights into the lifestyle and beliefs of an ancient society thousands of years ago.
