Highlights
- Epic car journeys through varied landscape
- Go wine tasting around Ensenada - Surprising as it sounds, Baja has some interesting wines.
- Try street cuisine of Tijuana
- Explore and hike in the Sierra de San Pedro Martir NP
Traversing from Guerro Negro to Tijuana you'll find a land of mountains, oceans, vinyards and surprisingly vibrant Tijuana.
Bordering the US, the northern part of Baja stretches from Tijuana down to Guerrero Negro. Much as with the south, this semi-arid mountainous region has a scattering of old colonial towns, Spanish Missions and is consider a more agricultural part of the peninsula.
Bordering the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean to the east and west, the region is not considered to be a big whale watching region. However, within the mountain range of Sierra de San Pedro Martir there are opportunities to hike and, if lucky, see mountain lion and a range of birdlife including several species of raptor. A less known aspect of the north are the vineyards that have appeared in recent years, with the region boasting some 100 wineries
