Hotel Catedral
The Hotel Catedral is a modern hotel in the historic part of La Paz, close to the city’s cathedral and with a rooftop pool that offers fantastic views of the city. Without doubt, the highlight of this hotel is the roof terrace and swimming pool overlooking the city and cathedral.
The hotel is a quadrangle shape with four floors, and all rooms facing into the central courtyard. The brightly decorated rooms have a cool feel to them and all have air conditioning, coffee makers and WiFi. The food served at the Hotel’s restaurant is fantastic, and you’re right in the vibrant historic centre of La Paz, where you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance.
The seas surrounding La Paz are renowned as one of the best places in the world to swim with whale sharks, in the Sea of Cortez. This capital city sits in a bay composed of several beaches. Balandra Beach is always a top favourite, and ranks as one of the best beaches in the world. You can enjoy snorkelling excursions, chartered fishing tours, boat trips to swim with the sea lions at Isla Espírítu Santo, and whale watching tours. The beaches here are simply incredible.
The city itself has a traditional Mexican vibe and you can enjoy some great local markets, such as the Nicolas Bravo market, strolls along the walkway running along the waterfront, and lots little independent shops. There are some natural caves sitting above the city called Cerro de la Calavera, which you can get to if you’re happy walking up hilly trails. It’s a great place to catch the sunset and within easy walking distance from the hotel.
