Located in Alajuela and close to San Jose’s airport is Xandari Resort Hotel & Spa. High up on a hill and set in an old coffee plantation, the resort has beautiful lush landscaped tropical gardens and overlooks the Central Valley.
The 24 spacious colourful villas all have a panoramic view of the valley from their private balconies and a unique interior design decorated in tropical colours with specially designed artworks and textiles. A nice detail is the specially designed high rolling wooden ceiling in each room, so the air circulates around the room freely – there is no A/C or television. It has spacious showers with a garden view, and a small kitchenette with a mini-fridge.
The terrace restaurant has commanding views of the valley below and offers a variety of choices from Costa Rican to international dishes. The hotel supports a ‘Farm to Table’ philosophy and grows most of its vegetables and herbs on the property.
The three pools are all saline-treated and you can wander along the three miles of trails through the property’s private trails to several waterfalls and spot a wide variety of bird species on the grounds.
