Hotel Morabeza
Without a doubt, the Hotel Morabeza is one of the best hotels in Cape Verde. The word morabeza is Portuguese for hospitality and they certainly live up to their name. The multilingual Cape Verdean staff are always on hand to help.
Hotel Morabeza is perfectly situated. Just a few steps from Santa Maria Beach and a short stroll into town. Santa Maria is a lovely little town with cobbled streets and a good variety of local cafes and restaurants. Santa Maria beach attracts people year after year, and you’ll soon find out why. Stroll along the white sands and enjoy a swim in impossibly turquoise waters.
Family run Morabeza has become known as one of Cape Verde’s most desirable hotels. With one hundred and forty rooms, it’s one of Sal’s larger establishments but still retains its local identity and charm. I has a lovely sunny aspect, with arched entranceways, poolside loungers, and coastal views.
The Hotel is elegant and has excellent facilities, including three fresh water swimming pools, spacious relaxation areas, two tennis courts, volleyball, archery, mini-golf and petanque. There is a games room with two snooker tables, table tennis, darts and board games and they also offer two free yoga classes every week.
The en-suite rooms (with shower or bath) all have a veranda with either a sea or garden view. All rooms have satellite TV, air conditioning, minibar, safe, telephone, hairdryer and Wi-Fi connection. Cots are available on request. There are a variety of rooms, apartments and suits available at the hotel, so you can choose your level of luxury and price.
As well as the recommended restaurants, which serve both Cape Verdean and international dishes, the hotel has three bars. The bar on the first floor, Tortue, is a popular venue for an evening cocktail.
